Step 1: Existing House
Chris and Sherry came to New Spaces with visions of a finished basement. As you can see in the existing photos, we started with basic framing, a concrete floor, and plumbing rough-ins. Their family consists of mom, dad and two children under six. Growing room is essential in their home!

During the initial visit, the designer measured the space, took pictures, and talked to the family about their needs.
Chris and Sherry required several amenities including:
- Wet bar
- An area for a game table adjacent to the wet bar
- Room for the kid's toys
- Book storage
- Gas fireplace
- An exercise room large enough to accommodate their equipment
- Entertainment center featuring a flat screen TV with awesome surround sound
- Replicate design style of the existing home
The designer also learned that Chris and Sherry wanted us to utilize existing plumbing rough-ins for a full bath, work around the current utility room, maintain existing storage and use natural products to create the feeling of a weekend get-a-way.
Their designer returned to the office and used the measurements to create the existing floorplan of the family's basement.
