Step 3: Proposal Design
The final plan incorporated elements of all three concepts.
-
Accent Wall
- Stone pillars with storage in between
- Serving area l
- Game storage
- Floating shelves
- Puck lights added above the shelves
-
Entertainment Center
This quality of drawing is used when finalizing the design of each area.
At this point Chris and Sherry had made some final decisions and were experimenting with paint colors.
-
Wet Bar
The final wet bar that Chris and Sherry chose is truly a combination of all three proposed concepts. After this perspective was drawn we added a microwave, shortened the accessory cabinet and deleted the ceiling treatment.
-
Fireplace
- Fireplace separated from the TV
- Separate room for exercise equipment — can also be used as a bedroom
- Closet space tucked under stairwell
By no means was the plan set in stone. As a team, Chris, Sherry and the designer set out to slash the price. The following modifications were made to decrease the budget without hindering the final WOW factor.
- Left all plumbing fixtures at the point of rough in to avoid breaking the concrete floor.
- Deleted the ceiling treatment over the sofa and over the wet bar.
- Chose a lower priced tile for the hearth and bathroom floor.
- Deleted the tile kick plate under the bar.
- Deleted the stone hearth.
- Utilized standard size cabinetry.
- Carefully selected our wood floor with price in mind.
- Saved money by choosing the Black stove instead of the Red stove.
- Used Alder cabinets instead of Maple because they were less expensive and gave the space more character
- At first we designed stone on the wall behind the stove but chose not to order.
- Selected Silestone countertops instead of Cambria.
- Deleted the bathroom linen cabinet.
- Strategically selected plumbing fixtures.
