This family loved the location of their 2000-built home, but not the style. This extensive whole home project included the kitchen, family room, laundry room, master bathroom and basement. This was a rare opportunity to do a contemporary-style home in the suburbs, and the end result is stunning. The spacious kitchen was open to a dinette and family room, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows which created a beautiful canvas to work with, even if, like so many, it was plagued with honey oak. Materials used were strategically selected for their simplicity, durability, and low maintenance. Oak flooring was replaced with a durable luxury vinyl, and high-gloss acrylic finish on the slab-style fronts make for easy cleaning. Clad in sleek metal laminate, the custom framed pedestal with steel brackets supports a 600+ quartz top, creating the ultimate focal point in this space. Full-height mosaic tile is the backdrop for the updated kitchen, while an oversized island provides the perfect place for casual dining. The owners’ bathroom showcases lovely contrast between the updated white cabinetry and matte black hardware, while the hallway bathroom features quartz countertops and modern finishes. The unfinished lower level has been completed with warm, modern features and a full bar, lounge, billiards area, guest room, and guest bath.
