A Kitchen and More

Empty Nest, Check. Dream Kitchen, Check.

With all four kids out of the house, this couple was ready for a change. In the beginning they wanted a more traditional kitchen with cherry cabinetry, but inspiration struck and they went for a more transitional look. The new kitchen features custom cabinets with a dark stain and simple but elegant door style. A clean tile backsplash was installed with a feature piece behind the range. New Cambria countertops with a waterfall edge finish off the space on a crisp and cool note. Hardwood floors were continued into the living room and the fireplace was completely re-worked. Bulky oak built-ins were carefully removed and replaced with new cabinetry and open shelving. New lighting was hidden in an architectural soffit to highlight this homeowner’s favorite artwork and keep the space feeling light and bright. At the desk area, new cabinets were installed with a grand barn wood wall to define the space and make it a cozy place to work
